win2k abit kr7a raid instabilities

ok, i have a little challenge for the anandtech pool of problem solvers out there.

I am building two computers at the moment, very similar in configuration, both side by side. Each computer is using an Abit KR7A RAID mobo, PC2100 DDR 2.5 CAS 256MB X 2 crucial (512 total), Antec 350 watt case, Netgear FA311 nic, SB Live 5.1. One computer has an ATI Radeon VE video card, a 56k creative PCI modem, a 24x plextor burner, and Athlon XP 1900+. The other has a Radeon 64mb VIVO, and a DVD and cdrw drive from an older computer. Both are also using Radial Fin coolers and arctic silver II from Fry's. The temp on both has been holding around 42-43c.

I installed Windows 2000 onto a RAID 1 array, both are using IBM 60GXPs. I then installed the NIC drivers so that I could access service pack 2 on my computer over the network. From there, I installed sp2, then the video video drivers, then 4in1s, without the IDE driver, then sound, and other such stuff. After all that, I am experienceing general instability, and some data seems to be getting corrupt. Some stuff that I coppied over the network to the first computer was all corupt, and quick time does not work at all, it kills the comptuer when I try to run it. I can play DVDs just fine, though. On the other computer, I went through the same proccess, and I now have MS office 2k installed, and when I open word, it dies(it gets a program error).

Who has suggestions about what the cause could be? Let me know if i left any details out, I probably did, I don't function well late at night.

I tried updating the network drivers on one computer, and it made no difference.

It seems as though the data is getting corrupt as it passes through the PCI bus, or the memory buss, or something in that area.

ookay........well now the computer with the office problems does not even F'ing boot. It get the BSOD, saying something about a registry file error, and reboots.

I'm going to bed before I physically harm this computer.

is the sblive and the lan card sharing the same irq? there have been issues with this combination. try changing pci slot for one or the other

well, the computer that will not boot still will not boot, not even in safe mode, and not even after I moved the network card. I think that installation is hosed. I am going to go put together my dad's nforce system, and if that works I will be using nforce boards for these computers, because these abit kt266a boards are crap so far. When I try reinstalling windows 2000, I will remove all the adin stuff untill i get the basics installed, then I will start adding stuff.

Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
