Using Win2k and Win98. I used to be able to see the Win2k Machine vice versa. After removing and reinstalling Windows 98 Network components I am unable to see the Win2k Machine. I have everything installed (NIC - TCP/IP, Dial Up, MS Windows Family Logon, NetBeui - TCP/IP, Dial-up. Somehow I am able to see the Windows 98 Machine from Win2k. Any ideas ? Somehow I can share Win98 Folders/ drives etc.. with Win2k but cannot view the Win2k Machine when going to Network Neighbourhood in Win98. Win2k can manipulate "ALL" of Win98 machine. Pls help. They are my home computers. Never had a problem till now. Did everything still no go. Thanks:confused

Make sure they're still both on the same workgroup -- but I'm sure they are since you can see the 98 machine from 2000. I had this problem when my laptop had 98 on it... I just upgraded it to 2000. Not sure if that's an option for you, but I prefer 2000. Even for gaming.

Try installing Client for Microsoft Networks. I am not sure exactly what this thing does, but it seems to put everything in a "network oriented" mode and connects to things faster. Make sure that you have the 98 computer and win 2k set to use the same default protocol. Also, open up a dos box in 98 and type in net view. This is basically Network Neighborhood, but with less overhead. Make sure you are in the same workgroups.
