Win2000 won't start !!!!! / Need Help ............Please :)

The error begins when the screen with the bar that runs along the bottom starts .

"Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt : \WINNT\System\vgaoem.fon"
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows 2000 setup using the original setup floppy or cd rom.
Select "r" at the first screen to start repair .

Ok , first I don't have my copy of Win2000 at home . I left it at my parent's house when I was putting it on thier system .
I do have a Win NT version 4 disc & was wondering if that would work ?


Anything else I can do ? (luckily I do have a second computer to deal with problems like this . Very helpful .

I think you better just find a copy of win2k

My second computer is also Win2000 driven .

Are you suggesting bringing the drive from the working computer over and hooking it up as the master & the non booting as the secondary ?
I know how to do this but don't know how I would copy the file over to the drive that's missing the file .

I'll have my disc in a few days but need my computer VERY soon !


Also , with the use of the Win2000 disc .................... Does it look like I'll be able to salvage the OS without reloading Windows ?

How about making a boot floppy and putting the file on it from your working computer, then replacing the file on the bad comp off the floppy?
