win2000 shutdown bug?

ok i *think* i saw this problem on the microsoft support page but i cant seem to find it. I have a BH6/celeron 300a->450 machine running win2k. Everything is fine except when i shutdown, it seems to "hang" on the "it is now safe to shut down your computer" screen. Normally the ATX specification allows the computer to shutdown without having to hit the switch. But I can't seem to turn it off, even when i DO hit the switch. The only way to do it is to hold the switch in for 6 seconds or so until it manually overrides and cuts the power. And THEN, it restarts again when i release the power switch. ARGH. Any ideas on how to fix this? Coincidentally, win98se doesnt have this problem at all...

If you've disabled ACPI (or don't have it at all!), then make sure you enable APM Support. This can be found under Display Properties, Screen Saver, Power, APM. Hope this helps.
