Right now, event 11 "the driver detected a controller error on \device\scsi\adpu160m" now occurs at 11pm when the tape backup process starts and the tape backup fails since the backup software says "no tape device found."
prior to this since the server was reinstalled, and when the tape backup was working for 3 days prior to this, it was event id 51 "An error was detcted on device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 during a paging operation."
The windows page file was only on the C: drive which was window's default setting of min 768MB- max 1536MB. with NO pagefile on the D: drive when it was just Event ID 51. The event 51 stopped showing and now it is just event 11 since the page files have been manually set to min 1024- max 2048 on both C and D Drives.
The amount of physical ram in the windows 2000 server is Pentium 4 1.8Ghz with 512MB, adaptec 29160 scsi card, 30GB seagate scsi hard drive as ID0 and it has a scsi sony tape drive sdt-11000 as ID5. this week a month ago the tape backup stopped working and after replacing faulty tapes, cleaning the tape drive and replacing the scsi cable I was able to get it working properly again once the cable was replaced for nearly a month.
about a week ago the server crashed, locking up 30 seconds after it reached the log on screen and needed windows completely reinstalled, which was done on an unused scsi hard drive in the server that is also a 30GB scsi seagate drive. and for months on that old install event 11 occured with server unexpectedly rebooting messages showing. I was able to solve those reinstalling the latest adaptec scsi driver though last month and on this new install they are current.
What are these messages meaning for me to resolve the problem for good?
What is suppose to be the page file size? Microsoft says 768 for a min since thats 1.5, but does not say a max size, i remember its suppose to be 3x.
