win2000 question

Hello,
I did a clean new install on my win2000 computer, and now when it starts up it asks me which operating system to load?

Microsoft windows 2000
Microsoft windows 2000

1) How do I know which is my new install?

2) How do I get rid of the old one?

This stuff is kept in c:\boot.ini

Could you please explain a bit more. I am not a big computer expert

C:\boot.ini has the boot information. That is the file you will have to edit to get rid of that other option.

this is probably a very dumb question, but i searched the whole c drive and could not find a boot .ini file. is there any way I can reformat my c drive and load windows 2k again so i dont have 2 OS which may screw things up

It's probably a hidden file or something.

First entry says ...../WINIT/....
Second entry says

......./windows/.....

rest is same.
Which one should i remove, and does that also remove the old OS? How do I knock that out b4 it creates more problems?

No, I'm not sick of the question. I was "out and about," and my brothers showed up.

I'm not sure which you should use. Try them both. If one doesn't work, remove that one.

Someone else might be able to give you a better answer...
