win2000 LAN, one computer with modem, can others share access? how?

office win2000 based, peer-peer network. one computer has modem. is it possible to have other computer share internet access over this modem.
mostly for checking email, not really concerned about speed. thankls for any help.

I'm assuming this is dial up? If dial up, http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/proxy.htm, try that. It's a proxy.

If you have a form of broadband, a router is usually the most painless solution.

don't forget to the specify the ip address of the computer with the modem for the gateway ip of the other machines.
