Win2000 hangs

I install Win2000 on a new machine last night. I get into it and there a few hardware errors no big deal just need to install some drivers. But I was to tired to so I shut it off and go to bed. I just turned it on and wam it hangs as soon as it fills to blocks in, on th first black screen. I try and run it safe mode and it hangs after giving this line "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\config\system" any help?

Try a repair reinstall.

that's where 2k keeps registry info. might be corrupt.

i have 2k installed on an ide raid array, and i would get this error every couple of weeks because the computer was shutting down before the disks would finish writing the info that was in the cache. diabled acpi and the problem went away.

sounds like when you were installing those drivers you might of installed a wrong one or corrupted one. Try the last known good option after hitting F8.

Try booting into safe mode also. If this works then you know its most likely a driver issue. Once you get in you can install the correct driver for your devices. That first windows 2000 black screen is where your bootstrap is being loaded though. That makes me worry a bit.

I can't get in with safe mode it freezes with that line that line I provided. I don't care about reformatting and installing again. But I don't know how to reformat because I used NTFS instead of Fat32. How do you reformat when it is NTFS??

I erased everything and started over. It went great, I now have windows 2000 running perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your little bits of help
