Hello I want to know if there is a way to restrict the ftp server of windows 2000
only to the users from the administrator group, or only one user. I can only activate or disable the server for everyone
For individual users, you need to create an account on the machine for that user. Then all you shouild have to do is deny anonymous access (somewhere easy to find in IIS).
But I have a few accounts on my computer, I use those accounts to share (read only) some folder and my printer on my network. But I would like to make my ftp a way for me to get into my computer from anywhere and be able to write on it, but to do that I have to give that acces to all my accounts ... and I don't want to do that.
Have you tried creating an "FTP-Users" group? If not, do it, add yourself to that group, and make that group have access to ftp, and no-one else.
Hmmm... I'm doing some hosting and I use W2k's ftp server and I'm able to set who gets access to what.
The only problem I have is that everybody gets to see all the folders, but they are not able to get in each other's folder. The same should apply to the whole computer.
