win2000 dual boot with win98

How do I set up a dual boot configuration with win2000 and win98? The information that came with win2000 says to use a resource kit which I don't want to buy.

have win98 installed on c, then install w2k on d or e or f or anything but c

either make sure that you have two formatted hard disks or a hard disk with two partitions on it.
Install win98 on c, as ctll said, and then install win2k. During the win2k install make sure you install it to the other HD/Partition and it'll set itself off. during the install of win2k it will install it's own boot loader program that you'll be able to select win98/win2k from.

note you can either start the install from windows98 or by making the cdrom drive bootable and doing it that way, it's up to you.

an addition if win2k will be installed on the same hardrive as Win98, make sure the win2k partition is below the 1024 hardrive cylinder. You will probally will want to create two 4 gig parttions to hold both os then partition of the reamaining hardrive space to your preference.

anyway, even if true, the w2k install program will put it where it needs to go, so don't sweat it.

Some were into hardware before GB language for disc space was used.
8Gb is near the 1024cylinder area.

I actually had 3 operating systems on my 27 gig drive. I had NT4 on the first 1.2 gigs I had Windows 98 SE on the next 12 and finely I installed NT2000 on the final 13 (D drive). They all worked fine. I was using Partition commander to separate the drives. NT 4 needs to be up front or below 1024. NT 2000 did not seem to mind where it was. I then crashed the whole system by deleting NT 4 partition and expanding the NT2000 after moving win 98 to the front of the drive. (OUCH!) Any way I?ve made the mistake of putting Win 98 and NT 2000 on one large 27 gig C drive. They both work fine except that win98 refuses to run IE Explorer. The only reason I?m keeping win 98 is for burning (Till my new software comes in from HP) Than its format everything all over again?.
