Win2000 DMA prob

Hi,

Ive having a bad day with Win 2000 - I need to enable DMA for my ATi card to capture. Ive enabled it using device manager ( set is to DMA if available ) , but it still chooses to use PIO only. Ive done some research on the net, and altered a couple of reg settings, as suggested -Still stays at PIO only... Ive also changed the bios settings. DMA is disabled, but ive got a choice of 4 modes.. PIO is set to Auto, with choices of 1 to 4... Ive played around with these to no availe.. Ive also spoken to dell who adviced to to update the bios. Again, no luck after i flashed the bios..

The PC is a Dell 4100 , P3 1ghz ( thinks ;o) Running windows 2k Pro ( upgraded from Win ME )

Any advice how i can get it to do DMA instead of pio - cheers in advance

I have 2 dell 4100's here at home and I've had no problem running my ati cards in dma but I do have a friend that did an upgrade and he's had similiar problems I did a clean install and have not seen those issuses.

wish i could just do that, but its got loads of the bosses data on it, so the line manager wont let me reinstall - cheers anyway
