I know this subject has been discussed over and over but I still can't find the answer I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated. I am running Win2000Pro (SP1) with 2 Maxtor 40gig ATA-100 harddrives (7200rpm, non-raid) on an Epox8kta3 mainboard using the newest Via 4 in 1 drivers (version 4.32). (See full system specs below). They are benchmarking horribly in Win2000 using Sandra (15,000-18,000); I am thinking they should bench around 28,000. I dual boot with WinMe and they show around 30,000 using HD-Tach in Me. Using Win2000, I have tried the Microsoft hotfix and various bioses and via drivers and can't seem to improve my drive speeds. Could Sandra be giving me bogus numbers? Are there any other hard drive benchmarking programs besides HDTach to use (because it won't work on Win2000 without paying 50 bucks). Any help or suggestions are appreciated!
