Windows 11 finally gets a 'never combine taskbar buttons' mode

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 dev build that adds a long-awaited feature allowing users to ensure that all windows are shown as individual items in the taskbar.

I hope it's true. It boggles my mind that Microsoft removed this functionality in the first place as it makes multi-tasking a lot easier on Windows IMO. I also find it mind-boggling that it's technically possible to reinstate the functionality in the current release version but it has to be done with registry changes and those changes mess up other taskbar elements.

This would be a nice feature/option to have again. I would turn it on.

I would be happy if most of my taskbar icons kept from going invisible at random times after I wake the PC. I would also be happy if sticky notes actually stuck to my desktop. Neither working as described doesn't inspire confidence about what else may be screwed up under the hood of Windows 11.

I've been using this to circumvent MSFT constraints. W11 being locked down for idiots that don't know better has been a drawback for those of us that use it differently than the sheeple. Reg hacks only go so far for bending W11 to your will.

MS Seems to always do weird stuff like this with their new releases, where they strip away a bunch of features and then slowly add some of them back in over time.
