While I predicted Windows going ARM only, I suspect that this isn't the break point yet, partly because MS would have to ditch support for x86 halfway through a Windows product's lifetime which would likely result in multiple lawsuits, not to mention likely completely toasting Windows's long term chances of survival.

I wonder whether Win11 "feature updates" are going to be essentially once per two years for a given architecture going forward, though admittedly Microsoft has taken more than one dump on the definition of a feature update already so aside from the servicing stack getting a reset every so often so it doesn't chew up all available RAM, or a particular feature update release getting two years' worth of updates, who knows what feature updates are meant to be about any more.

This isn't the first time that WinNT has been for more than one architecture, I'm pretty sure there was a PPC version of Windows NT 4.0 once upon a time and I think there was an Itanium version too.

I wonder if this is the beginning of the end of Win/x86 or whether Microsoft will tip its toe in a new patch of water and then retreat back to familiar ground followed by a sad trombone for WinARM "early adopters" (though it's been around for a while now!).
