Win10 UEFI: BIOS needs to be reinformed that Windows is set to boot UEFI style

I've done this once before and it was either with bcdedit / bootrec or with diskpart. I would rather not have to do all the googling I did before to find this again, so if someone knows how to do this, please let me know :)

The BIOS had forgotten its UEFI platform secure boot keys, that's what I was trying to reinstate. The BIOS has an option to recreate the default keys (whether those are enough to boot a UEFI Windows install, I have no idea). It didn't resolve the problem but I think the installation had more issues than just that.

The boot mbr is written over when changing modes

Citation needed. I can't imagine any manufacturer making a BIOS setting that results in writing to a storage device because of the increased potential for wrecking things (possibly just beyond the average user's knowledge to reinstate the correct setting, or worse).

Also, wouldn't there be a difference in how MBRs are written on GPT partition layouts compared to legacy ones?

GPT doesn't use an MBR.
