FYI: The error message relates to an I/O error occurring when attempting to load boot/setup files.
It was a bit of a circuitous route to troubleshoot, but I got there in the end
Brand new laptop, already running Win10. I ran a couple of tests on it (a full chkdsk of the SSD, connected it to wifi and let it download updates), then I intended to clean install Win10 on it from DVD.
A minute or so into booting from DVD, the BSOD occurred, twice in a row.
I read up on the BSOD code, and considered the DVD drive may be up the creek. I connected my own USB DVD drive, same error.
I ran memtest for a couple of passes, no problem (for those who aren't aware, I/O errors during Windows installation are commonly RAM - or fixed storage - problems)
Only suspect left was the disc, so I stuck the disc in my PC, same BSOD.
It's the first recordable CD/DVD containing Windows setup files I've had go wrong IIRC (dating back about 16 years I'd guess?), and I'm having to download it again because WinImage wouldn't let me make an ISO of the disc's contents when I originally burnt it (I've used the disc several times for Win10 installs in the last ~6 months).
