I'm currently running Win10 preview build 14986 with no problems. Build 15002 was queued up for installation via the fast ring, so I went ahead and installed it. That didn't work.

After the boot, attempting to proceed with the installer produced an IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR_NOT_EQUAL with the culprit being storport.sys . It did this even running the system at bone stock settings (no overclocks). I pulled my extra Hawaii cards and it still happened.

Anyway, I've tried looking up storport.sys problems and can find no reason why this particular problem would crop up during an preview build install, particularly not when I've been in the fast ring since forever. What did they change in 15002 that would cause this problem?

For now I'm in the slow ring, I'll go back to the fast ring when a new version comes up to see if that'll fix the problem.

edit: apparently this is a known problem:

http://windowsreport.com/windows-10-build-15002-bugs/

However I do not think I can update any drivers for my storage controller?

What are you running for hardware? I have 15002 running with NO issues that I have found. I do not experience any of the problems listed in the Windoze feedback. My experience with IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR_NOT_EQUAL[/QUOTE] has led to memory issues.

What storage drivers are you using? It seems that the latest build doesn't like the drivers currently on your system.

Okay

A10-7870k
Asus A88x-Pro
16 GB Silicon Power DDR3-2400
Crucial MX200 SATA SSD
Some R9-290 with a reference cooler - think it's a Gigabyte? Mining only
MSI R9-390 Gaming - Mining only
Realtek 8812AE PCIe wireless NIC

The only storage driver listed in Device Manager is for "Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller", and the driver version is 10.0.14986.1000 dated to 2006. Heh.

There's also the AMD SATA controller driver which is version 1.3.1.245 and dates to 9/23/2014. It's the same driver you get with every Radeon APU driver package.

Check your driver versions with what is available from the Asus site for your board The AHCI driver was posted 01/2016, also do you have the latest BIOS

My win 10 insider box is using 1.3.1.276 (which are actually 1+ year old, date on them is 3/19/2015, and didn't have any issues with the upgrade to 15002

That's funny. It looks like I've been running without an AHCI driver the entire time. I'll have to poke around with that and get back to you . . .

edit: btw I am only using UEFI rev 2001, though mine is hacked by The Stilt to disable GeAPM throttling so I doubt I will change it.

I just signed up for the fast ring Windows insider program, but after checking numerous times over the last several hours, I still don't have any download available for Windows 10 preview 15002  And yes, my account is definitely registered.

You need to be in the fast ring, Also go to the feedback hub to get info on the latest releases. 15007 just showed on the announcement page. Next have your pc check for updates.
I strongly advise a continuous backup on the pc. Also control the install time and make an image of the HD prior to the install . Lastly know how to access individual files in the image in case the back up missed it.
If you have hardware issues the preview releases will find them

I am in the fast ring. I selected that option right after I registered. There is a statement on the insider build window which says, "Note: it will take some time to receive a build after changing your settings."

No idea how much time it will take, but it seems like quite a bit since it's been about four hours already.

Don't be surprised if it take a few days. I have been in this for about 1 year
By rights this discussion about the insider program should be in its own thread

Hehehe, Windows update just downloaded the preview build 15007! :D So far so good. That was the smoothest upgrade ever, no issues whatsoever.

So far I'm impressed by the changes, particularly with Edge. Edge is now my default browser on my desktop PC!

End of the night and I need to reboot the latest one I have.

Haven't turned off the computer in a few days, didn't want to wait on the install.

Time to jump computers :)

Update: I have downloaded the latest AHCI driver from Asus in an archive named:

RAID_XPWin7-81-10_V376-220-245-276-459-125-522.zip

I drilled down into the AHCI subdir to the Win10 subsubdir and the .msi refuses to launch on the basis that it the driver is incompatible with my OS. The included readme indicates that it is a Win8.1 64-bit driver despite being labeled a Win10 driver.

Also I tried preview build 15007, and it produced the same error.
