The only reason IMO to adopt Win11 is with regard to Win10's end of support date (Oct 2025), or you're running =>Alder Lake. IMO it's a regressive edition of Windows.
Pretty much where I’m at. Overall I really like win 10 and it’s been better than fine for me. I know I have years more support. I know I’ll have to move to win 11 once support ends.
I’m not against win 11 since it is free, I just haven’t seen anything that adds value vs win 10.

I guess, that this makes sense, for end of retail availability of PCs and laptops with Win10 pre-installed, but would they also pull retail-packaged FPP (Full Packaged Product) from the shelves?

I guess it was only a matter of time. My complaint about win11 centers around file explorer not being stable often. I’m not entirely sure it’s win11 or my AMD build, as my work laptop doesn’t seem to have the problem very often

Can you describe the issue in more detail? Does it freeze? Crash? Win11 explorer doesn't feel as "smooth" as Win10 but no other issues encountered by me.

I do see issues with network items under This PC. Half the time it won't see my NAS when I open File Explorer. I have to keep it pinned for quick access. It still takes several seconds to search before it opens.

sure, loading folders can take anywhere from 10-30 seconds on a regular basis. I do t notice this on my OS drive, on my data drive specifically.

it will hang, sometimes crash, etc…

This seems to me more like some storage related chipset driver issue. If you have Intel mobo, try installing the latest chipset driver from their driver support site. Same for AMD, if they also provide that driver. It's possible that Windows update installed an older driver (Windows Update is super stupid!)

I freaked installed win10 in October and did the win11 update in November. This problem happened under windows 10 as well. I’m at the latest driver. I 100% suspected it was a problem with my build until my intel based laptop crashed file explorer under win11 a few times

Do you have a common software installed on both machines? It could be a buggy Explorer extension, like PDF or anything that is supposed to offer "extra" functionality to the right click context menu or just files in general.

I don’t. The installs and uses are different as desktop is mine, laptop is work. The biggest difference beside the platform (amd vs intel) is my device had 3 additional data drives. Everything is bitlockered.

I dont tend to run an extra software that’s not needed

pretty annoying overall. Drivers are all at latest rn

That could be it. I've never tried bitlocker. And don't want to, unless I'm working on backed up top secret stuff that I don't care about losing if something goes wrong (Microsoft doesn't give a damn if you lose data).
Could be, but it’s not a me problem. If it’s the RC then MS needs to fix it

Check to see if you have Core Memory Isolation turned on. It can cause some stuff to crash. If it's off, turn it on to see if it makes your system more stable. It has a 5 to 10% performance hit, depending on your CPU model.
