Win10: Flicks/swipes no longer work with touch, and are stylus-only.

I have a Fujitsu tablet that is now on Windows 10, changed from Win7.

Win7: Flicks/swipes were available that worked with the stylus or a finger. Swipe left or right to go forward or back, and up or down for scrolling. They could be assigned to many functions.

Win10: Flick actions are only available if done with the stylus. It no longer works with a finger. It knows that you're trying to use your finger though: In the practice area, if I try to use my finger to test a swipe, it scolds me that I can't use a mouse or finger. Stylus only.

Is it 1997 again? Was someone nostalgic for the first interfaces that exclusively worked with a stylus?

(I'll try to limit the saltiness in these threads. I'm really irritated by the changes in Win10 that have taken steps backward in terms of making an interface that is efficient and versatile. It's going to take me awhile to make adjustments to regain what has been lost since Windows 7. This flicks/swipes thing is a pretty serious detriment to usability.)

Maybe your tablet just doesn't handle W10 very well.
It's a Fujitsu Q775 tablet, so it's not very old, and it was designed with at least Windows 8 in mind. It's also got the current Windows logo on it as the main "start" button on the case.

I'm not the only one with the issue either. Even Microsoft Surface tablets are affected.
Windows itself says "You cannot use a mouse or your finger to perform a flick. Try again using your tablet pen."

For some reason, the finger-flick feature appears to be disabled, at least by default. I'm hoping that there's a 3rd party utility to resolve this, or maybe some obscure setting buried in gpedit.msc. It worked very well in Windows 7 and was quite handy. I don't understand the benefit of having it and then removing it completely, rather than making it something that could be turned off and on.

Flicks are pen only in Windows 10 (Think it was change in Windows 8).

That's about what I've found. Does anyone know of a 3rd party utility that restores functionality from 7 years ago? :\

I submitted feedback about this through the built-in system. We'll see if that goes anywhere.

I really don't understand the rationale behind removing such useful touch-based functionality from a touchscreen device, and instead requiring use of a stylus like it's a 1st-gen Palm Pilot. It's especially odd when they're trying to make Win10 touch-friendly and sell their own Surface tablets.
