Win10 and problematic updates

KB4056892 has been causing a customer's AMD system to not boot, requiring the reset button twice before Win10 rolled back the update, then it would install the update again automatically. I don't know whether my attempt to use MS's "show or hide updates tool" finally stopped it from installing that update after the fourth attempt (because I applied it after the second or third attempt), or whether Win10 has automatically blacklisted the update. All the update attempts occurred this morning, so I highly doubt that MS withdrew it just in time before Windows would have attempted to install it for the fifth time (though I guess I could prove that by using the tool to un-hide the update).

Does anyone have any experience or know how Win10 maybe blacklists updates automatically?

Its most likely that it was pulled by MS. it may have taken some time in between then it was trying to install and checking in with MS for available updates. So it may have tried to install 1 or 2 more times before it checked.

A lot of Vendors are pulling updates that where previously release to fix and mitigate the Specter and Meltdown issues.
