2. It would be helping to all of us if people can post their specific experience with installing x64 on specific 64bits motherboard, and what is needed drivers wise to install it.

A useful tip (in my book anyway) is to check out www.planetamd64.com BEFORE you upgrade to X64. They have a database of all of the drivers (both beta AND final release ones), as well as many useful tips for how to deal with migrating to XP, and how to get hardware working when the manufacturer does not provide drivers (they helped me with my Canon i470D printer, which has no drivers for X64).

Another useful tip is that XP X64 seems (to me and a few others) to be more sensitive to overclocking. I have noticed that my highest stable overclock under Windows XP 32 will cause BSOD's during the installation of X64, so if you have errors during the install of X64, set your system back to defaults, and see if that helps.

I have actually been curious about the overclocking part as it makes sense that the chip might pass our usual stress tests in a 32 bit OS when we aren't able to stress the entire chip.

I think this is a large part of the reason that X64 appears to be more sensitive to overclocking.... Simply put, in Xp-32, you are not using the chip to it's fullest potential, but in X64, you are using much more of the chips processing abilities, and when you add an overclock to that which was tuned for a chip not using it's full potential, it may not be as stable.

I have a follow up question regarding overclocking within x64. Is this version of XP adding a greater workload to the CPU? Are CPU temperatures higher than they would be while using 32bit, or are they about the same? I bought an OEM version of XP Pro x64 today along with a soundcard (since my current one is not supported in x64) and am wondering if i am going to be having any issues regarding heat, since my CPU currently runs a bit hotter than i am comfortable with at the moment, and don't really relish the idea of it running any hotter.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

There is no difference in processor heat when running in X64 vs Xp-32 (I have tested this with my own system). The processor's max heat under load in windows Xp-32 will still be it's max heat under load in X64. X64 may make it run slightly warmer during idle (since more of the processor is being used in general background processes), but the temp of a CPU running at 100% will be the same in either version of Windows. So as long as your chip runs cool enough under load in XP-32, it will be fine in X64.
