Win XP Web Desktop connection problem - router maybe?

I'm trying to use http://ts.bink.nu/ so that I can connect to my PC at home while I'm at school. My comp is behind a firewall (Belkin 4-port router). I'm having problems connecting. Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm guessing I have to open some port, but I really don't know which one.

you need to turn on port forwarding/mapping, depending on your router. Just forward port 3389 UDP to the PC that you are trying to remote desktop into. I'm assuming you are using NAT so in the router configuration just forward port 3389 UDP to, for example, 192.168.0.51 (if this is the PC running winxp pro and assuming you have remote desktop setup correctly with username/passwd).

Oh ya when you are at school trying to remote desktop into your home PC be sure you are typing the WAN IP address of your router and not your NAT-ed PC address at home. :0)

Thx for the post there, but I think I need some more help and guidance. I'm trying to figure out where I can "forward" ports. The only things that look similar are the 'Virtual Server' and 'Special Application Ports' menus.

I believe on the belkin "virtual server" is the same as "port mapping".
Try this:
1)Under "Private IP" type "192.168.2.x" (whatever IP the home PC is and you are trying to connect)
2)"Private Port" type "3389"
3) Select "Type" "UDP"
4) "Public Port" type "3389"

Make sure the home PC doesnt have a personal firewall, either winxp built-in or 3rd party, zone alarm, etc. If you do, disable it.

Btw, you cannot expect to use that link " http://ts.bink.nu/" on the internet. I dont know if thats even a real Domain name. If you want to remote desktop into your home PC use the actual "remote desktop connection" under start->programs->accessories->communications->"remote desktop connection". IF you are using anything other than WinXP you will have to download the software free from microsoft.

Your friend uses that link? That is his website. You need to use your public IP address.
