reformat...the cureall....something's probably screwd up in ur registry..try running windoctor to fix..

There is a Windows update that addresses issues like that. No this isn't a joke. Maybe you don't have that update fixer yet?

you're just doing something wrong. i don't know anyone who has had a better experience w/ 98se than XP.

I was thinking the same thing. I've never had a problem with XP, 98SE crashed every other hr just about.
 
I don't use autoupdate. I just go to Windowsupdate.microsoft.com everynow and again.

As for 98se vs XP. Never had a problem with either. XP is a bit more bloated but after some tweaking runs pretty well. I like a few XP features, like the preview thumbnails and the themes. Otherwise, 98SE was fine for me. Both are (or can be) very stable.

WindowsME OTOH, is god awful. Worst OS Evar.

/me turns off Autoupdate and just visits the site every now and then when I'm bored and can remember
