Win XP users: anyone having this problem?

Windows keeps telling me to download the same update, 811493, every day. Every day, I install it and reboot. The next day it pops up and asks me to install again... thoughts/comments?

i want autoupdate on, so i can keep up to date with the security patches. what i want to know is why its asking me to install the same damn thing every day.

well just go to microsoft website and sign up for their updates mailing list or something and turn the autoupdate off. it's the most annoying thing ever.

I switched to WinXP and had all sorts of problems. After it crashed and burned I went back to Win98SE. I'm tired of MS better OS that is loaded with crap that bogs the puter down and gets in the way.

I had the same problem. I must've downloaded XML 3.0 update like 15 times before i realized it was the same thing every day. I just thought MS was going nuts with the updates 😛. anyway, i ended up just turning autoupdate off. i dont think theres really anything you can do, its just a bug....

Try downloading it from the actual windows update website rather than through autoupdate. Any browser windows open when it was installing ?

Anyone who doesn't have a computer good enough to run XP, or just someone very unlucky.

So I'm a fvcking reactionary. Us old farts tend to be so. I'm going to reinstall XP tomorrow.

Hey man...just kidding around with ya. 🙂 You should use whatever OS you are comfortable with. If that is Win98SE, then that's cool. After all, you are the one that uses your PC, not all of us.

🙂
