WIN XP TWEAK THAT WILL BOOST YOUR SYSTEM

Thanks for the link!🙂 I still haven't cut the Win98SE apron strings but I will definitely use these tweaks when I finally do!😉

Just remember, not to turn off teh print spooler if you r using a network, in my system it disable the printer ports.

Wow! I tweaked per recommendations and my system just about came to a halt ...Dell Dimension 4400 2.0 ghz

I went from 32 second boot ups to 3 1/2 minutes plus. I couldn't get online cable modem, I couldn't print sh!t! Thank God, for the default settings in help. Not being able to print, this was a major exercise in concentration. For those of you on the same level, watch out! I was ready to strangle somebody! I thought this guy knew his sh!t, he may, but he doesn't know your sh!t!

Did you disable the DHCP service? I did that and it caused my computer to not get an IP for my router.

Yeah! I disabled the DHCP service.

My main problem was that I overlooked the warning ...something to the effect of "If you don't know what you're doing, don't try this"! I've got a little bit better understanding of what these services do and enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek "what each of the service means to Microsoft and what it means to humans".

Everything is back to normal.
