I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. The system is a Compaq Evo N600c laptop, P3-1.06ghz, 1gig ram etc, running win xp pro.
If I put the system into standby while it is docked in the docking station, then when I wake it up from standby, the speakers from the docking station will make a slow popping sound about once a second, and the system will run extremely slow.
Looking at task manager, I see a process called "System" that is consuming 100% cpu time. and is 216k in size. Task manager won't let me kill the process. If I try to put the system back into standby or hibernate it will just do nothing. If I try to turn off the system or restart it, it will hang after saying saving settings and logging off.
Called compaq tech support, they have no idea, called microsoft tech support, they have no idea.
It only does this when docked. If I don't have it docked, I can put it into standby and resume as many times as I want and it will always work fine. Infact, at one point I had the system on for over 60 days without rebooting, using only standby when I'm not using the computer anymore (this is without docking station).
It does not appear to be a problem with the docking station because it works fine with another laptop, and it doesn't appear to be the laptop because it works fine by itself and with another docking station.
anyone have any ideas or seen something similar?
