Win XP Setup

Trying to install win xp, and it's only seeing 131 gig of my seagate 250 g hard drive.

What's up? I'm sure it's something stupid, but help would be apprectiated.

FYI, I had xp64 installed before, and had no issues.

Setup sees the other 130, but on a diff partition, and it's labeled with an mbr.


it's an ECS MB, btw.

Yes. If you're playing around with pre-SP2 versions of WinXP, take precautions against worms (scroll down halfway, past the Vista-versus-XP stuffs).

You can also look at this which will talk you through the steps so you don't have to install service pack 2.

But I would still recommend installing service pack 2 for security reasons.

but thats after i get it installed, I'd prefer 1 partition...

The integration of SP2 into the installation files is a piece of cake. Making a bootable CD with the new installation files is slightly harder. Here's a lead for you: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=223562

You can partition the drive in another XP sp2 machine, then put it back into your PC to do the install, just dont repartition it
