Need help with the following question:
I have Win XP Home Edition working. As I got a new PC, I want to move the Win XP to the new PC and activate it using the existing code (after I delete the old version and get rid of the old PC).

Will I have troubles re-installing Win XP on the new PC? How does Microsoft know that the old copy has been deleted?

Thanks for any help.

You will probably get WinXP installed on your new system and it will tell you to call them on the telephone for an activation because the hardware is (presumably) significantly different than it was when your copy of WinXP was originally activated. Explain to them that you deleted the WinXP off your old computer to install it on the new one, and that is why the hardware is all different.
How does Microsoft know that the old copy has been deleted?
They will have to take your word for it. When I transferred my first WinXP Pro OEM license to my mom & dad for their computer, I had to call and do this procedure, and they had no problem with it.

SO whats to keep someone from installing it on 2 differant computers at the same time? I never did understand how WPA works, I just dealt with it.
