Win XP + Radeon VE Help PLEASE

I'm running Win XP build 2600 (pretty sure its the final). I did a clean install, and the install went ok, and I get as far as the win xp boot screen, but then when it tries to boot to the desktop, either i get a black screen with a frozen mouse pointer or the monitor just registers no signal and goes to sleep. I'm running a Radeon VE on a kt133 mobo. I've tried the drivers that windows and installed and the leaked xp drivers from maxreboot. I'm not really sure how to install the leaked ones, I extracted and then went through the device manager and updated them from that location, it recognized my card as a radeon 7000, so I'm assuming they installed. I still got the same problem though. An error message that came up on boot into safe mode told me that the instability was caused by the radeon. Has anybody had a similar problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
brian
