I am not sure if this is hardware or OS/software problem
My system is in my sig. It used to work fine, but about 4 months ago, in games, FPS and RTS, it would freeze for a few seconds every half a minute or so, where I hear my machine beep. It happens if I am just clicking around in Warcraft 3 or if I am running around in counter strike. Randomly I'd lose control and my character (FPS) or screen (RTS) would continue in the direction the second before it locks up, and I can't do anything about it except to wait a couople seconds. If I try to press buttons to change direction or try to click on my units, my machine would give a series a quick, sharp beeps.
I don't know what caused this. It first started when I reinstalled windows few months ago and put on auto patcher, but I don't think that's the problem. I reinstalled windows xp pro last week, and didn't put autopatcher on, for a few days it was fine, but then it started happening again. I have a legit version of windows XP pro that I bought for $25 at my university when Microsoft had a relation with my university and I could get the education upg version for cheap. The XP is 3 years old, but my PC is one I built myself during last summer.
