Hi,

Just curious, in general, have people noticed any performance jumps going from cat 9.1 to 9.10? I'm using Windows XP Pro x64 (SP2), and have a Radeon 4870x2. Haven't updated my drivers in a long time, and the first few reviews for 9.2/9.3/9.4 didn't really show anything significant. I haven't been keeping up since then.

As for the CCC, is it possible to tweak the same settings you do in CCC via ini files or something similar? Also, if I make changes in CCC, can I end the process and still have the changes I made take place? ex, AF, AA, etc.

TIA

General performance across all games probably hasn't changed much, but specific games have received performance boosts. X2 cards have received the largest performance improvements from driver updates as well. You'd probably have no less than a 20% performance boost going from 9.1 to 9.10 in Crysis for example. That's the only one off the top of my head that I am absolutely certain has had major performance improvements.

Keep in mind that driver updates are primarily to fix bugs and improve stability, increasing performance is of secondary importance. It's always a good idea to update drivers whether there's an increase in performance or not. They don't release new versions for no reason.

I don't know the answer to your question about the CCC. I just leave it running in the background, I've never had any performance issues or quirks with just leaving it on with Vista or 7. It might be a different story with XP 64 though.
