WIN XP PRO Question. Must fix login and shutdown screens.

I don't know what I did to one of my computers running WIN XP PRO SERVICE PACK 3, but heres the problem.

Although I set up Windows with a password, I never use it. I just start up my computer and go to work. Press the button and walk away for the 5 minute boot time. Now my computer stops halfway through the boot process and prompts me for a password. It displays "Log On To Windows." I dont enter a password, but I do have to walk over and hit "Enter" in order to finish the boot process.

When I shut down Windows, I'm prompted by a shutdown screen with a drop down menu which is a pain to manuver through. I prefer the simple three button panel for shutdown.

How do I get it to return to the simple boot process in order to facilitate easier turning on and off of my computer?

Thank you in advance for any mentoring.
