Win XP Pro networking question within a workgroup

Nocturnal

Lifer
I'm attempting to setup four WinXP Pro boxes in a workgroup network. From my box I can connect to two shares on two different computers, the third, it asks me for a login/password. I can type in the computer name\user name and then the password and it works. But I don't have to do this for the other two computers. All four computers are using NTFS for our file systems.

I don't see any differences as far as permissions go. They're all the same. Any idea why this specific account is asking for a user name and password?

***FIXED***

Just thought I'd update you and everyone else who may stumble upon this some time in the future. What happend was the computer I was trying to connect to, in the local security policy, it was set to not allow connections from Guest. I just removed the Guest account from that specific rule and it works now, it doesn't prompt me with a user name or password.

The thing is all the user names are different. My computer has only my user name and it is unique. The other computer that I can connect to does not have my user name at all. It may have the "administrator" account but I believe it is non-passworded.

Also SFF is turned off on all computers. All computers are using NTFS drives. I thought it was because I had my Guest account enabled but I disabled the Guest account through MMC and it still occurs. It always prompts me to enter a user name and password. It's so weird, I can connect to all the other computers and they don't have my user name on there.

What I noticed is that if I enable the Guest account on his unit, it won't let me connect at all. However if I disable it, it prompts me for a u/p.
