Hi,

Just thought of the other question I wanted to ask. I am pretty sure its been asked here before, but I couldnt find it on the search.

My XP box takes about 30 seconds to get from completed bootup (when most apps are available) to "network" bootup where I can connect to the internet etc. I think I remember vaguely that this is a problem with the computer searching for an IP or something? I cant really remember.

Anyway, anyone have any ideas? I have Zonealarm Pro working and Norton Antivirus. When the computer boots up to the first level, I can see the Zonealarm Pro trial window come up, and other icons in the bottom right of the task bar, but the actual Zonealarm icon down there doesnt come up for about 30 more seconds and I cant open a connect window until then either.

Thanks,
Joshua

I think it's searching for a IP from the DHCP server. You have to specifiy the IP's in your network adapter. Follow this link for instructions:
