[Win XP] partition showing as empty?

So, here's the story. I'm on a Windows XP machine (soon to be 7) and was trying to get all my data together for the migration.

I've got one primary hard drive that mounts into two partitions. One partition for system stuff, one for pure media (music, saved images, etc.)

I found an hdd from an old system formatted the same way (system/media) and mounted it in an external enclosure. Snagged a ton of files I thought were gone forever, wiped the external, disconnected it.

Turned off the PC and came back to it and now it's showing the media partition on my primary drive as empty. The system partition is functioning perfectly. Is there any way to get the media partition functioning again?

Thanks for reading!

Instead of copying them you might have moved them. If this is the case just copy them back from your spare disk.

Otherwise you can try disk recovery programs. I do not know of any but there are a few around.
