Windows XP has been running great up to the past few weeks, but lately I have seen a slowdown in how fast it boots up. Everything starts up normal until it gets to the "Windows is starting" screen before you get to the login page. I'm pretty sure it's not a network problem since I run DHCP server. It just sits there waiting for something, but nothing is being looked at on the hard drive. I does startup, but it takes 2 or more minutes when it used to only take under a minute.
My 2nd prblem is that whenever I install any program using Windows Installer, it takes 5-10 minutes before anything happens. It just sits there during that time, then out of the blue, it will eventually install the program. The same thing happens if I want to uninstall a program.
I'm not sure what has caused these problems, but it could be because I downloaded every update for the windows update program. I guess it is getting close to doing a clean install or moving back to windows 2000 🙂
