Win XP: Is it OK to Delete the Pagefile Before Making an Image

Olias

I want to use PowerQuest DriveImade 5 to backup my Windows XP partition. I would also like to delete "pagefile.sys" and "hiberfil.sys" before I make the image because they take more than 600MB of space. Will XP just create these files again on the first boot when they are missing?

Thanks, Olias

I don't know about DriveImage but Ghost is smart enough not to grab pagefile.sys, we don't have any boxes at work that hibernate so we don't have that file but I assume it'll do the same there. And when the box is shutdown the pagefile just contains the word PAGE over and over, so it compressed to almost nothing anyway. But yes XP should create them both on bootup if they're gone.
