win xp installation question

ok, I have hp pavilion, harddrive died. I want to put another harddrive and install Win XP home. all i have is the product key for win xp though. Also, I have another Win XP Home CD with another product key. it's currently installed on another computer.
my question is: can i use that CD and different key to make a fresh install?

No, they key is locked to the disk. However, you could ask HP to send you a fresh disk with your product key.
