Whenever i try to install win xp home, by inserting the cd selecting boot from cd in bios, then restarting it starts to install but then it gets stuck on "installing windows xp" so i restart again, this time a error comes up "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" run a diagnostics utility from your hardware manufactuer" Technical info ***STOP 0x0000000.

Athlon 1800+, Asus A7N8X-VM nForce2 mini atx mobo, 256mb of adata pc3200, 40gb seagate barracuda, asus 52X cdrom drive

it also sais "Chassis intruded! press f1 to continue on start up

NO ocing at all??? Always want to install using default settings....

The other thing is maybe their is some compatability problem with some hadware in the system...PLease install with the bare minimum right now....1 harddrive, 1 cdrom, 1 vid card, and all the other things out or onboard stuff turned off for right now....Try that...

Look at compatability then!!!

Also

1)try using different ide cables
2)run diagnostic on the harddrive to make sure nothing is wrong with it

It's always worth trying a different stick of RAM if you get blue screens during XP install, maybe you could borrow a known good stick?

ya i had a sorta similar. ram seems to be the culprit frequently. try a different stick, even if its only pc2100 or something

set your BIOS to the bare minimum....my motherboard did not like CPU write behind or some setting with my Tualatin 1.4-S chip and I could not get Windows to install either, or the machine to boot sometimes.

That's IDE cable...

I had a faulty one that connects the cdrom to the mobo, and the exact same thing happens, with almost the same error message...
I bought this new rounded cable and it was faulty, try to get it from somewhere, use an old ribbon one of you have to...

Try it and good luck
