Hi. I'm in the process of buying a Dell Inspiron 4100 notebook for home/study use.

THe problem is i'm not sure whether to go for Win XP-Home or Pro.

My school uses radio LAN cards to connect to the network through the slots on the laptop. - i'm not too sure about compatibility problems with XP-Home

Also, what's an integrated ethernet 10/100. If i choose this option on the laptop, does it mean that i don't have to use the radio LAN cards to connect to my network at school???

Thanks

I would prefere pro to home for your laptop needs. It has better security. It will do all that home does for all you are going to do.

Set up two profiles to use your two methods of connectivity , both at home and at school. The built in 10/100 is a port in the back that will accept a cat5 cable connection. Use it where approriate. If you are going wireless, you will use the card in the pcpcmia slot,(or whatever they call it.) use a different profile to accept that connection.

Have fun with the system.;)
