Win XP Home - Internet connection problem

I am having a problem with my internet connection I'm hoping someone here can help with. I have a XP Home PC connected to a Linksys wireless router, connected to my cable modem. I can connect wirelessly from my laptop just fine. But with the desktop which is wired to the Linksys, I lose my internet connection. I do a IPCONFIG /release followed by a /renew, gain a new IP, and still no good. The only thing that gets it working is a reboot, followed by another release and renew. It seems to happen overnight when not in use. I will get it working during the day, then the next day it happens again. I have tried turning off the power management of the netwoirk card at a friends advice but that doesn't seem to help either.

Anyone have an idea as to what is going on here? This just started about a week ago.

Out of curiosity, what antivirus software do you have, and have you scanned the system for viruses and spyware as a fact-finding step?
