Win XP home edition or pro?

I have win 98 and Im looking to upgrade... which is overall better home edition or pro? I know Home Edition costs way less than pro, but I heard my friend said that Pro is more stable. I'm mainly looking to use my pc for gaming so I don't really care about any of the extra features... so which is better, thanks

Don't listen to your friend. They're the same, except a few features that you probably will never use. Just get the home edition. If you want more verification, just search here at operating system section or read Anandtech's FAQ's.

oops I didnt see there was a OS section, anywho I bought the Win XP home edition upgrade today, but I heard there were problems with the upgrade as opposed to the full version... is there any truth to this claim?

I don't think there is, just don't "upgrade" it...do a fresh install with your upgrade CD. (which, if it's like past MS software, just verifies you have a previous OS disc from them?)

upgrading from 98 to XP is a major jump

Format and fresh OS install is the way to go!
Don't forget any relevant BIOS and mobo driver updates!!

You can use the "upgrade" version to do a clean install. A clean install of Windows XP is definitely the way to go.
