my school has hilariously denied access to USB flash drives on their computers. They removed my computer from the start menu and desktop, and when I open an IE window and try "D:\", it says "access to the resource D:\ has been disallowed".

how can I get around this and simply access my USB flash drive?
(As I last resort, I'm sure I could just reboot the computer from a live CD, but that takes quite a bit of extra time compared to just sitting down and getting to work)

Create a shortcut to D:\ and put it on a floppy or cdrom drive. Explorer will allow you to access restricted areas if you use a shortcut. At least that worked for me with my school's Novell network when they accidently blocked access to flash drive.

not really, you can access the address bar in word and try to execute other files from it. you just need to know the exact path

Discussing ways you can bypass your school/company network security policies is not allowed here.
