Hello. I found some information here on driver letter, and I just want to make sure I get it right.

I installed XP, and it gave my zip drive designation c:, cd-rom d:, hard drive#1, e:, and #2 f:.

If I disconnect my zip drive and reinstall, will it set the hard drive with Win XP to c:?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, it should. (as long as your HD is the master on the primary IDE channel) A guy I work with had this same thing happen. Your computer will work fine with XP installed on a drive other than C, but I understand the annoyance. After installing XP on your C drive, then hook your zip drive back up and it will give the zip drive a different letter.

I had this problem b4. Unfortunately, I couldn't change the drive letter where the winxp installed at that time.

You may have to go into Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management and change the drive letters to suit you. You may have to rotate them around to some odd letters, but eventually, you can gain control.
