Win Xp double click problem

I am running win xp professional and this problem just started last night for no reason. whenever i double click a folder, it opens up into the 'search within the folder' window. now in order to open folders, i would have to right click the folder and chose open. any ideas?
 
if I understand you correctly, try going to control panel>folder options>select 'file folder' from the menu>click advanced>click add>name the command 'open' and direct it to explorer.exe in your windows directory>set it as default command....
