Win XP does not shut down fully, different from other shutdown probs

I just installed XP Pro on my other machine which used to run WinMe. Now when I shut it down, it shuts down up to a point and then says "It is now safe to shut down your computer" or the something like that, and then I have to manually turn the power switch off on the chasis. I am not sure exactly what to do, but I once heard about a fix for this.

Could anyone please post anything they know about how to fix this or a link to an explanation. In the mean time I will keep shuffling through MSKB.

Thanks in advance!

If power management is enabled in BIOS, make sure it is enabled in Power Management from the control panel.

Some software can cause this too. If you have Zone Alarm, Roxio or Adaptec burning software, or a logitech mouse you might want to head over to the companies website and look for a patch.

If you still haven't found the problem, you can check to make sure all your drivers are WHQL certified.

Hope this helps
