Hey all,
A friend of mine recently built his system and is now getting some problems with Windows XP.
If the PC is switched off for a period of time, once powered on, it will boot into Safe Mode on it's first boot. Once restarted, it boots into Windows normally. It will also boot normally if he shuts down and switches back on soon after.
He tried doing a format and reinstall of the OS, but the same thing happens.
I'm tending to think it's possible that his hard drive is giving some trouble? It's a 120GB Western Digital Caviar drive, which he was only able to get working properly by setting it on the Cable Select jumper, anything else causes the system to not recognise the drive on startup since it takes a while to spin the platters.
Anyone else encountered this problem and may have a solution?
Thanks!
