Win XP booting up.... multiple OS's

Hey

On a server computer I have I installed windows xp pro. I then preceded to re-start the computer, and stupid me didn't change the BIOS to start from harddrive, so it went into the windows xp pro install setup AGAIN. I exited out of that, and now.. when I start the computer it says this:

"DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER."

I am sure it is asking for the windows xp install disk, but that isnt what I want to do. so I hit the reset button on the case, and then it brings me to

"Please select the operating system to start:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows XP Professional"

I simply pick the top one and it boots me into the windows. However, if I shutdown the computer, and turn back on, I get that "disk boot failure" error, and have to hit reset to choose the top and get into XP.

How do i get rid of this? Thanks!

To fix the multi boot menu run "msconfig" and go to the "boot.ini" tab. Then click the "check all boot paths" button.

Did it instal on two partitions ?
It must have because it would just overwrite if on the same one
If you RIGHT CLICK on 'My Computer' then choose MANAGE,
you can open Disk Management (lower set) and see if you nave
multiple partitions.
Now if you RIGHT CLICK on the (X🙂 drive in each box & choose
'Extend Volume' it will tell you right then and there if it is a BOOT SECTOR.
If two are in fact BOOT SECTORS you can Delete Volume or farmat
& be done with it. The 'Other' should stay intact.
Keep the one that is recognized as (C🙂
