Win XP boot disc, so I can update BIOS

anomaly

Senior member
Where can I get one? My computer at home is down ATM, installing a new mobo (P4P800 got sick of the IC7 messing up), and I figure I should update the BIOS at the same time. My work computer runs on 2k, so no boot disc from here. Anyone know where I can get one online?

You can use any Win98, Win2k, WinME bootdisk. Since you're only flashing the BIOS you don't need access to any of the NTFS harddrive partitions. If you aren't using NTFS then you can use any bootdisk to flash and for sys maintenance.

or just put a blank floppy in the drive, go to my computer, and right click on Drive a - > Format , and aslo check off copy system files

That works too

Not an option in W2K.

When you do that in WinXP is actually makes a WinME boot disk (which doesn't give you access to NTFS partitions).

Since you have an Asus P4P800 I suggest you flash directly from inside windows,Asus comes with a nice utility on your install Cd that works perfectly.

I have flashed from windows several times with this Asus Update utility & it's worked perfect everytime.

Just flashed my bios to 1008 last night. 🙂
