This is what I have; 1 pc with WinXP Pro, 2 pc's with Win98se, and all connected via a switch, DSL/cable router, and cable modem to the internet. BTW, I liked the NetBEUI protocol because it added a little extra "encryption" for my home network (not compatible w/internet protocol and all that), but decided to drop it since XP doesn't support it.
So how 'bout IPX/SPX for my home network... after all, won't it have the same security as NetBEUI? I tried about everything to implement it, but XP won't share. My two Win98se machines squawk at each other just fine under IPX/SPX, but the XP pc doesn't want to play at all. I pinged and ran \\the win xp pc from one local machine, and up popped a window of the shared folders, so it's not hardware.
In case you're wondering, yes I used TCP/IP protocol, and the XP machine shares its files and folders real nice, but I'm not crazy at all about using my home network on the same protocol as millions of other nodes in the world with only a Swiss cheese router between us.
I've tried doing what they said here with no luck.
Is there any hope of getting this to work without having to buy two more M$ licenses?
